The CD starts, and the words “I got new socks on” float out of the speakers. Now someone might think, What the hell? While you’re trying not to laugh at the previous line, a tight drumbeat begins. With the addition of the guitar and organ, the sound of I Got New Socks On by The Green Room is in full effect.

The Green Room has a sound like no other. Although the jam sessions seem to be typical of the Dave Matthews Band, the organ presence makes a sound like that of The Doors. This unorthodox sound can be heard prominently in “Burn Like the Sun,” “Future,” and “Damn Mess.”

The CD has plenty of amplified songs. However, The Green Room reiterates their musical talent by doing five songs on the acoustic side of things. “Burn Like the Sun” and “Future” are both done acoustically, along with three other songs.

Most of the songs on this CD are too long for mainstream radio, which is a real shame. However, after playing for a large number of people out in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Winter Olympics, their music should have no problem fitting in with the mainstream. Radio is about ready for some musically talented acts to hit the airwaves.

On a scale from 1 to 10, I would have to give this CD a 9, which falls under the DAMS AWESOME category. Take the time to listen to this CD, and enjoy the wholesome goodness that is The Green Room.
