You want comedy? You want a laugh? You want thrills? Then you want Sister Act. Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost) stars as Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer from Las Vegas who is forced into hiding when her violent boyfriend -- whom she witness killing someone -- wants her dead.

The last place she expected the police to hide her is in a convent run by an ever-so-old-fashioned and strict Mother Superior (Maggie Smith -- Hook). Deloris is pushed head-first into the convent, taking on a new identity as Sister Mary Clarence. Her "devilish ways" and outward behaviour attract attention from the nuns, who start to become fast friends with her. Before long, she is transforming the convent’s tone-deaf choir into a modern hip-hop soulful choir. But it’s not long before her presence starts to get noticed nationally, as the nuns rock onto television shows and magazine reviews. Now Sister Mary Clarence is on the run again -- this time with a bunch of nuns in tow.

Honestly, this film is hilarious from the moment the title credits begin to the moment the end credits roll. How can you not love it? It’s packed with laughs, Motown music, comedy, and light-hearted entertainment. I’ve heard there is a sequel to this film, so while you get sucked into this one, I’m going to find out about the other.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself dancing around your living room with a hairbrush after watching this movie. Watching Deloris trying to fit in with the nuns’ way of life is highly amusing -- I can’t help but laugh at it after watching this film over and over and over again. And while Whoopi Goldberg is the driving force of this film, she’s backed by the talents of Kathy Najimy, sarcastically-talented Mary Wickes, and shy-but-sweet Wendy Makkena.

No matter how many times you watch this film, you’ll always want to watch it again.
