Progressive Rock is a great genre to get music from. The possibilities for new bands and side projects are endless. A Prog-Rock super group may contain three members -- each from a different band. They can get together, rehearse for a short amount of time, and put out a stellar CD. O.S.I. is one of those super groups.

Office of Strategic Influence is the first release by this progressive powerhouse. The overall feel of the album has a dark, sinister feel. The digital looping and sampling throughout the CD contribute to that emotion. The appeal is very similar to Pink Floyd. As a matter of fact, the limited edition CD contains a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun.”

The three main members of this band have different stylistic tastes, but they blend their preferences perfectly. The lyrics are very ambiguous and get the listener thinking. The time signatures can throw the listener off. For example, “Memory Daydreams Lapses” is written in the time signature of 25/16. These are just a few things that help the listener develop a strong appreciation for the musicianship of O.S.I.

There are four things that you need to do now. Grab Office of Strategic Influence (preferably the Limited Edition version), turn on a lava lamp in a dark room, light some incense, and put this disc in your local CD player.
