Whenever my husband goes out of town, I head out to the library and take out a bunch of chick flicks. Then I order a pizza, pull out my latest knitting project, and watch movies all night.

I was halfway through Picture Perfect when he came home this time.

“Haven’t you seen this one before?” he asked me.

“I don’t think so,” I replied. “You’re probably thinking about that other Jennifer Aniston movie.”

But he was right. I had seen it before. I just didn’t remember until I was watching a scene toward the end of the movie.

So, needless to say, Picture Perfect isn’t a really memorable movie, but it’s a cute chick flick nonetheless…

Aniston plays Kate, a woman who knows exactly what she wants. She wants to move up in her advertising job—she wants a billboard in Times Square and a commercial on the Academy Awards. And she wants Sam (Kevin Bacon), one of her coworkers, who says she’s not enough of a “bad girl” for him.

But everything changes when her friend starts telling everyone that Kate is engaged to a guy named Nick (Jay Mohr)—a guy she met in passing at a wedding. Suddenly she’s getting the respect she deserves at work, and Sam starts paying attention, too—because he’s only attracted to unavailable women. Everything goes perfectly for Kate—until her boss asks to meet Nick.

I think the most upsetting thing about this movie is Kevin Bacon. I have to admit that I’m biased, though. I’ve never found him the least bit attractive (actually, “ick” would be my word for Kevin Bacon)—so I always find it hard to believe when someone as gorgeous as Jennifer Aniston would fall for him. Other than that, it’s a cute movie. Not thought-provoking, not intense. Just cute and fluffy. It’s not at the top of my chick flick list, but it’s still a good one to watch on a quiet night at home.
