Originally released in 2002,
this disc was re-released this season and features two bonus tracks. It's packed with
swinging interpretations of many of the classics like "Winter Wonderland" and "Nutcracker
Suite" mixed with some very cool originals. The whole thing is great fun and is easily
one of the best holiday discs you could have in your collection.
"Baby
it’s Cold Outside" is a brilliant and playfully sexy duet featuring Setzer and Ann
Margaret. This track is truly exquisite. "Cactus Christmas" is a unique and humorous
number about a cowboy-style Christmas, complete with jackrabbits, rattlesnakes and sand
in Santa’s sleigh. "So They Say it’s Christmas," written by Setzer, opens with a stellar
guitar solo. This one sways with eyes closed cradled in rich, sweet horns.
I was wondering how Setzer would pull off "Oh Holy Night," yet he does.
Maybe after all that swing, the chill feels nice.
This album is packed
with fabulous horn stylings and guitar solos guaranteed to make your head spin. This is
a festive, crowd-pleaser certain to get some feet tapping at your holiday party. It’d
make a great stocking stuffer too, although I recommend grabbing a copy for yourself,
since it’s likely to inspire you to pour a glass of eggnog and start getting those
presents wrapped.
