This Boston band has produced an energetic collection of punk/ska with some jazz/swing undertones. Though it’s an unusual mix of genres, these guys really know how to make it work.

The album opens with “Kinder Words,” a very danceable track with some wonderful lyrics. “Hell of a Hat” has some fabulous vocals and brilliant horn stylings. “Toxic Toast” shows a good deal of amazing keyboard work. My favorite track on this disc is “Pictures to Prove It.” This upbeat piece has to be one of the most cathartic tunes about heartbreak that I’ve ever heard.

These guys have a sound similar to that of Green Day—but with a rich horn section. Dicky Barrett’s vocals are gritty and passionate. The lyrics are thoughtful and satisfying. And the musicianship is clean and tight.

The disc is well-mixed, and it's one of my favorites of the many produced by this talented band. If you like horns and ska, Question the Answers is definitely worth checking out.
