This is a wonderful collection of rock and roll classics by this talented veteran band.
The sound on this disc is incredible and the mix is clean. The musicianship is strong and gritty with a powerful bass line and some nice rich guitar stylings. The vocal harmonies are lovely and the lyrics will carry you from angst to inspiration with your feet tapping along the entire ride.
The title track speaks with a gentle kindness to that little bit of misfit that lives inside all of us. “Black Messiah,” is a delightfully catchy track that begs the world for a bit more tolerance. “Live Life” is both uplifting and upbeat. “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy” is a lovely tune with just a tiny splash of romance woven in. That wonderful classic holiday ditty, “Father Christmas,” is also included here on a bonus track.
Even if you’re not a big fan of The Kinks, Misfits is a lovely, versatile collection that has something for almost everyone.
