About Marsupials is written to educate children about what marsupials look like and act like. The author gives minimal information in the main part of the book, corresponding to pictures of different types of marsupials. Some of the information includes how they raise their young, how they move, where they live, and what they eat. The Afterward contains more detailed information about each type of marsupial illustrated.

I think this book could have been more interesting if the author had put more detail in the main part, as opposed to saving it for the Afterward. Children are probably not going to read through all the detailed information in the Afterward unless they’re doing a research project. Each type of marsupial illustrated is referred to as a plate number. It may have caught the reader’s attention more if the author had referred to each picture by the name of the animal and left out the plate number.

Overall, this is a good introduction to marsupials. It could be used in a classroom setting, or it may pique the interest of an inquisitive child who would find a wealth of information in the Afterward.
