When I picked up a copy of Wild Temptation (before it was republished as Wanton Temptation), I knew that Ruth D. Kerce was an author to look for in the future. Though her novels have become a lot steamier, with graphic and unconventional sex, her plots and characters are still as intriguing, if not more so. Whether it’s her police thrillers or her futuristic suspense set in alien nations, you’re sure to find something by Ruth D. Kerce that you’ll love.

Born in Oklahoma under the Chinese year of the Tiger, Ruth D. Kerce lives up to the sign as a woman of action, pursuing goals with vigor, passion, and daring. The uniqueness of her writing proves this without a doubt.

As a child, she collected marbles and would play for hours, throwing them in the grass and seeing if she could find them all again. Now she collects Gelerts—a type of Neopet. And her favorite things are two stuffed bears and pepperoni pizza (which she likes even better than chocolate).

Ruth needs quiet when she writes, so no music blasts from her CD player. Writing is her passion, and she has so many stories roaming around inside her head and not enough time to get them down.

On Writing, in Ruth D. Kerce’s Own Words

What or who inspires you to write?

Actually, it’s the characters. I need to get their stories out of my head and down on paper. It’s like the characters must have their story told, and they won’t let me rest until I do.

Why did you begin writing?

Just for fun at first. The sister of a friend of mine had a dream. My friend began writing it down, then a group of us just started writing stories for each other. I’d written prior to that, but that’s when I started writing on a daily basis. I had no intentions of doing it for a living until I was in graduate school, when I started thinking about it. Prior to that, I simply wrote the stories because I loved to do it.

Which author inspires you?

Janet Evanovich. I love the humor in her Stephanie Plum series of books, and I love how easy it is to read those books. They totally suck me in.

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

Beyond getting the story down and finishing it up, like I mentioned above, I’m always thrilled when I hear from readers—complete strangers, who email just to say how much they enjoyed a story. It’s wonderful to be able to connect with people through my books.

When’s your next book due out, and what’s it about?

I have several books scheduled for release.

My ebook, One Naughty Winter Night—a Christmas story—is coming out in an erotic paperback trilogy called Winter Studs, along with stories by Diana Hunter and Ruby Storm. This is our second Studs book together, and it will be out either the end of November or the beginning of December.

I also have a new ebook coming out on December 5th. It’s the second in my erotic historical romance series, Wanton, from Ellora’s Cave, and it’s called Wanton Surrender.

Here’s a blurb:
Cal Roberts loves Elizabeth Davenport but runs away from his feelings. Four years later, he’s back to claim her. But Beth is now engaged to another man. Cal needs to earn back her trust and remind her of the passion they once had together. Beth thinks she’s in love, but her fiancé isn’t what he appears. He wants her, not because he loves her, but because she stands to inherit the entire Sinclair fortune from her brother-in-law, if everyone else is dead. He intends to see that happens...and soon. Beth and Cal must work together to save the family, themselves, and their love from a man who would destroy everything out of his own greed and savage desires.

Then, on January 23rd, I have an erotic futuristic romance coming out at Ellora’s Cave called Sins of Adaven. This ebook was a fun one for me to write because it also contains a lot of suspense, which I really enjoy doing.

Sometime in February, from Changeling Press, I have a Shifter Ménage Hot Flash coming out, called Her Feral Mates. This is the first shifter ebook I’ve done, and I had a great time with it.

And, finally, my story, “Virgin Seeks Bad-Ass Boy,” will be included in an erotic print anthology distributed by Pocket Books, scheduled for release in March. It will also include stories by Lena Matthews and Vonna Harper. I’ve seen the anthology listed under a couple of different titles, so I guess that hasn’t been quite finalized yet. Right now, you can pre-order the book at most online bookstores as Good Girl Seeks Bad Boy.

As you can see, Ruth D. Kerce has a lot to offer in the coming months. Don’t miss out! To learn more about Ms. Kerce and her future projects, visit her Web site at RuthKerce.com.
