Shani Hanna doesn’t know it yet, but her life was mapped out even before she was born—but Shani has her own plans for her life. Convincing everyone, including God, of that is another matter.

After a fun summer with her friends, Shani returns to Spencer Academy—a private school for kids of the rich and famous—ready to jump back into the books and head into her future. Once she graduates from college, she plans to take over her father’s oil company. Over the summer, she met a hottie surfboarder named Danyel Johnstone, so she’s also looking forward to seeing where that will lead. Then a new exchange student shows up—Prince Rashid al Amir of Yasir.

Prince Rashid and Shani played together as children when her family vacationed in the Middle East. She’d all but forgotten him, but Rashid certainly hadn’t forgotten her. Though she’s attracted to him, he seems a bit too pushy and imposing—something Shani doesn’t take from anyone. On the other hand, Danyel wants her to accept God, but she’s not so sure that she wants God’s attention swinging in her direction. Having to choose between Danyel and Prince Rashid is tough, but once she discovers that she’s destined to be Princess of Yasir, it suddenly becomes shockingly complicated for a young lady of seventeen.

Who Made You a Princess? is about making difficult choices—and Shani is handed some really tough ones. With the help of her Christian friends, she’s gently prodded toward God, where she can get answers and help with the curveball that life has thrown at her. And maybe she’ll even get her own fairy tale ending—though not in the way you might think.

Author Shelley Adina never fails to please. I absolutely love the All About Us Christian young adult series, and Who Made You a Princess? is an electrifying addition. It asks some pretty tough questions, too. How do you choose between a rich prince who’s used to getting his every wish and a laidback surfer dude who prays for your well-being and likes you just the way are?

With spunky, witty, laugh-out-loud funny Christian characters and a plot that’s never boring, Ms. Adina made Who Made You a Princess? a pleasurable read, giving it the subtle message that God can be a good part of your life—He’s always there to help; you just need to ask.

If you’re like me, and you’re leery of picking up Christian reads because you think they’ll be boring or preachy (or both rolled into one), give Who Made You a Princess? a try. I promise it’s neither preachy nor boring. It’s just a fun-filled read with a good moral lesson about life.
