I love it when I come across a fantastic inspirational author, especially if it’s in the romance genre. Author Julia K. Moore combines a spell-binding plot with romantic intrigue along with a wonderful, stirring message. She grabs my attention with her well-developed characters and mesmerizing plots. I strongly believe she’s an author you’re going to want to read a lot of.

As a child growing up in Texas, Ms. Moore would take her toys outside and create stories and plays with them. She also loved to climb trees, ride her bike, and dig holes (where her mama told her she could).

She’s good at embroidery and needlework and, like her heroine in Windows Into Heaven, she collects Orthodox icons, which means a great deal to her.

Ms. Moore confesses that she writes in total silence, because the stories are like movies in her head—she listens to what her characters say and transfers that into a book. A friend once told her they have meds for that, but she told her, "No thanks, I don’t want to get better."

She often tries to turn her complex dreams into a novel until she realizes how outlandish they sound.

She’s passionate about her faith, family, and Dancing with the Stars.

On Writing, in Ms. Moore’s Own Words

What or who inspires you to write?

When something happens in my life that deeply affects me, a book is usually born out of it.

Why did you begin writing?

I’ve been writing stories since I was in elementary school, but I was not published until 2007. I began writing because I felt a deep need to create, and I was best at painting with words.

Which author inspires you?

Lindsay McKenna, one of my good friends, and a shining example to all writers. She amazes me.

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

The feeling I have when I complete a story and it’s finally how I want it to be.

Have you experienced writer’s block? And if so, how did you cure it?

I cured it by sitting down and forcing myself to write, even if what flowed onto the pages was pure garbage. This eventually broke the ice and I surged forward.

When is your next book due out, and what’s it about?

Currently I don’t have a new project in progress. I have had several family members who are seriously ill and have needed me to help. Their welfare trumps writing, for me.

I hope Ms. Moore’s family members are on the mend and doing well. In the meantime, you can check out my review of Windows Into Heaven, and then head over to Julie K. Moore’s Web site to learn more about this inspiring author.
