After losing yet another position because of her reputation, disgraced governess Pompeia Grant finds herself outside the home of James Carling, the man who rejected her four years ago. She just needs a place to stay until she can obtain another governess position. Instead, she’s drawn into a wild scheme to help James’s sister, Sally, and his brother, Simon, get their grandmother off their backs about becoming respectable members of society. If James settles down, marries, and provides heirs, they’re off the hook.

Pompeia agrees to pretend to be a highly regarded English lady who met and married James in America in exchange for a few days’ shelter. The grandmother should be none the wiser, since James is still in the States—or so they think. When James shows up, the wantonness inside Pompeia comes alive, putting her future and reputation at risk once again.

Entirely too cute and delightfully fun to read, The Wanton Governess will leave you with a grin stretched from ear to ear. Even if you don’t particularly believe in love at first sight or second chances, you’ll enjoy this feel-good romance. Faced with it adorable characters and its sassy humor, you won’t be able to help yourself.

Pompeia tries to fight the temptress inside, but she just can’t seem to control it, which makes her an endearing heroine—the kind that you’d love to see unleash her naughty inner personality on an uptight society. And since he has no problem accepting Pompeia just the way she is, James will capture your heart, too, leaving no doubt that those two belong together.

I’m not much of a romance reader these days, but every now and then a romance like The Wanton Governess comes along, with its sense of humor and witty plot, and changes my mind, making me want to seek out more romantic reads like it. This one is too good to pass up. Don’t miss it!
