The trio that makes up Lady Antebellum blends country with a touch of soft rock on their latest release, Own the Night. They create a mesmerizing sound that thrums through your veins—music that you can pour a glass of wine and relax to as you listen and unwind after a long day.

Own the Night is best served outside, under a full moon, where you can feel the full power of each love song. “Just a Kiss” will make you believe in that one special person you feel you can spend a lifetime with, yet you have no need to rush the relationship.

“Dancin’ Away With My Heart” will take you back to your last high school dance, where you danced with that one special person, who will always remain eighteen in your memories. It’s a song about the last truly innocent moment before life intrudes and you move on.

My favorite song on Own the Night is the fun and mischievous “Friday Night.” It makes me want to dance around in the dark and think about whose Friday night sweet ride, summertime sunshine, and barefoot in the moonlight I wanna be. The song’s faster pace adds a little zing to the mostly slower fare offered on this CD. It’s a fun song, and you’ll find yourself singing along.

“Somewhere Love Remains” keeps hope alive. The song speaks of the struggles that love faces to stay strong between two people who refuse to give up on each other.

Own the Night is an amazing album of love songs—some that will break your heart and others that will make you feel as if love is worth it, no matter how many times you’ve been burned. Love is the “Heart of the World,” and no other country music group conveys it better than Lady Antebellum does with Own the Night.

Hillary Scott’s stunning voice flows together with those of Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood to create something incredibly beautiful. A mix of love found and lost echoes in the aftermath, leaving the listener haunted yet eerily alive, as if they’ve lived each song.

Anyone who loves music should add Lady Antebellum’s Own the Night to their most treasured collection.
