This week’s edition of Stolen from the Headlines features a mom who hired strippers for her son’s 16th birthday party, two brothers who accidentally blew up their own house, a “dead bodies” TV alert, and a man who drank for four hours straight just to calm himself down.

He’ll Never Forget his 16th Birthday

A New York mother has been charged with child endangerment after she allegedly hired two strippers to perform lap dances at her son’s 16th birthday party.

Judy Viger, 33, hired the women from an outfit called Tops in Bottoms and arranged for them to perform in private at the Spare Time Bowling Center in South Glens Falls on Nov. 3.

At the party, the women performed what police termed as “personal and intimate” dances with the party guests, some of whom were as young as 13.

Nearly 80 people attended the party, including a 13-year-old, and many adults who were so outraged they could hardly operate their camera phones.

Just another evening at the Spare Time Bowling Center.

House Party
Originally reported by The Wichita Eagle

Two brothers who celebrated a $75,000.00 winning lottery ticket by buying marijuana and meth managed to blow up their house on Friday, said Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department.

The explosion sent one of the brothers—a 27 year-old—to the hospital where he remains with second-degree burns. The other brother is in jail, Watts said.

The brothers were in the house about 7 pm. Friday, Watts said. One of the brothers went to the kitchen to refuel the butane torches they used to light their bongs.

“The butane vapor reached the pilot light in the furnace, and as you might expect, kaboom,” Watts said.

The victim was wearing a lottery T-shirt during the explosion.

Nice touch.

Zombie Alert
Originally reported by United Press International

A false alert of “dead bodies rising” on two Montana TV stations probably led to identical pranks in other states.

Greg McDonald, chief executive officer of the Montana Broadcasters Association and a member in good standing of INETBPYMBCEO (It’s Not Enough To Be President, You Must Be CEO) said the Emergency Alert System warning of “dead bodies rising from the grave and attacking the living” was tried out in stations in Michigan, California, Utah and New Mexico, the Great Falls Tribune reported Wednesday.

MacDonald said Federal authorities believe the hacking came from outside the country.

For “dead bodies rising from the grave and attacking the living”, it’s hard to beat foreign zombies.

Four Hours of Heavy Drinking Will Do It
Originally reported by Hastings Star Gazette

A man returning to his Hastings home at 1:30 a. m. found it damaged and began drinking for four hours before calling the police.

The Redford Road trailer’s interior was destroyed. The caller said he found the damage when he got home at 1:30 a.m., but he didn’t call the police until 5:50 a.m. The man told police he had started drinking to calm himself down after seeing the damage. He told officers he wanted to turn himself in so he wouldn’t be blamed for the damages.

No footprints were visible in the snow outside the residence.

After sobering up the next say the caller explained that the real culprit trashed the house and arranged for it to snow again so his tracks would be covered.

Oh, the old “second shooter” theory.
