Dust off one of the best

romantic comedies ever made—Arthur, starring Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli, and John

Gielgud.

Arthur Bach (Moore) is a very rich man who spends his

inheritance on
lots of booze. He’s having a great time, too, until his family

threatens to cut him off from his $750 million inheritance if he doesn’t marry Susan

Johnson (Jill Eikenberry), the daughter of another tycoon. The problem is that Arthur

doesn’t love Susan—and he never will.

When Arthur and his dry-witted

manservant, Hobson (Gielgud), save Linda Marolla (Minnelli) from being arrested for

shoplifting, Arthur falls in love with the witty, unusual lady. What’s a poor

millionaire playboy to do? You’ll have lots of fun finding out.

This

movie won John Giegud the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Hobson.

Giegud comes close to stealing the show—which is hard to do when you’re competing with

Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli.

Moore also delivers an adorable

performance as Arthur. You’ll laugh at his drunken antics and fret over the possibility

of him losing the love of his life.

Arthur is one of those classic

films that’s still funny today. And more good news: the sequel to Arthur,

Arthur 2, is just as good as the first, so you can spend an entire evening

watching Arthur!
