More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts

Read Time:2 Minute, 25 Second

In case you’ve somehow missed the red and green decorations hanging around the mall—or the aisles of ornaments and tinsel on sale at your favorite store—consider this your warning that the holiday season is right around the corner. For those of you who like to give handmade gifts, that means you’re already about two months behind.

Fortunately, Joelle Hoverson is here to help crafty procrastinators. Her More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts is filled with ideas for knitted gifts that can take as little as an hour—or as much as eight hours or more—to finish. There are a variety of projects for everyone on your Christmas knitting list—and the patterns are even divided into chapters based on the time it takes to complete the project (less than two hours, two to four hours, and so on), so you can pick your project with an approximate knitting time in mind.

Since the projects were designed to require the smallest of time commitments, most of the patterns are pretty simple and straightforward. In fact, most are just a page (or less!) in length, with just a few effortless, uncomplicated lines of instructions. But if you’ve got a little more time on your hands, Hoverson also suggests a few modifications—often in the form of more detailed stitch patterns—to add a little something extra to the projects.

Of course, More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts is more than just a holiday book. Though it includes plenty of winter and holiday patterns (like hats and fingerless gloves and pretty duplicate stitched ornaments), most of the projects can be made—and given away—at any time of the year. There are adorable hats, sweaters, and blankets for a new baby. There are sachets and baskets for hand-crafted housewarming gifts. There are socks and hats and sweaters for your friend’s birthday. Or you can knit them up in your favorite colors as a pretty little gift for yourself.

From whimsical hats (like the Pointy Elf Hat shown on the cover) to cheery baby blankets, the designs are more than just quick (and often easy) to knit. They’re also nice to look at. Most are knitted in bright, pleasing colors—and they’re beautifully photographed, too. So More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts is more than just a great book of quick-to-knit patterns. It also makes a gorgeous coffee table book—one that’s guaranteed to inspire you to pick up your needles, dig out some stash yarn, and whip something up.

Whether you’re looking for some stress-free holiday gift ideas or you’d just like a quick project to work on while you’re watching your favorite movie, Joelle Hoverson’s More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts is sure to provide plenty of exciting possibilities. Be sure to keep a copy handy at all times—especially around the holidays.
