E-Author Spotlight: Bianca Swan

I’ve never really been a big fan of erotica—because, more often than not, it just feels like an excuse to write raunchy sex without regard to character or plot development. But, every now and then, an author like Bianca Swan comes along and changes my mind by mixing a great story with hot and graphic sex.

Ms. Swan was born at home in South Carolina, with a midwife in attendance. When told to go outside and play or else, she read books—or she pretended that she was a horse and cantered around the yard.

She once had a recurring dream about a house that she and her ex-husband had planned to buy in South Carolina. When she went into one room, she got chills. Later, while living in different states and cities, she would dream about this house with nightmares about coffins rocking like cradles and shifting floors. When she moved back to South Carolina to care for her aged father, she drove by the house. People were moving out, but she was no longer bothered by the dreams. She feels it must have been closure.

Though her mother paid for her to take piano lessons, Ms. Swan is an accomplished horsewoman. She used to be absolutely nuts about horses; she lived and breathed horses for twenty years. Now she owns a baby grand she can’t play, and she no longer owns a horse.

Since she’s loved him since she was a girl, she’s a collector of Edward VIII memorabilia, but her passion is sports cars—the faster the better. Some of her other favorite things include symphony, travel, writing, and reading—and she’s in love with a man dead 39 years: the Duke of Windsor.

On Writing, In Ms. Swan’s Own Words

What or who inspires you to write?

In any given moment, I can’t say what will inspire me. A movie. A person. A song. Or the characters just begin talking to me.

Why did you begin writing?

To tell the stories I wanted to read.

Which author inspires you?

Many. I can’t really name them all.

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

I get to live in exotic places with exotic people.

Have you experienced writer’s block?

Yes.

And if so, how did you cure it?

I waited it out.

When is your next book due out, and what’s it about?

I’m working on a novel about a demon who is an outcast. Love eventually wins him over to the good side.

My review of Celestial Sin is coming soon—but, in the meantime, please visit Ms. Swan at BiancaSwan.com to learn more about this talented author.
