This edition of Stolen from the Headlines introduces a couple who went out for more than just a ballgame, some aging bikers who decided to switch to trikes, a man who stole hay for his girlfriend, and a father who lambasted his son with a broom.
True Love: He Stole Hay for His Girlfriend
Originally reported by United Press International
Police in Tyumen, Russia reported that a man accused of stealing 1.5 tons of hay allegedly took it from a neighbor’s field as a makeup gift for his girlfriend.
Tyumen Region investigators said that the man allegedly loaded the hay onto his truck after fighting with his girlfriend and took the pilfered hay to her home in the hopes of obtaining forgiveness.
One wonders how the girlfriend reacted to the gift of hay. Our guess is maybe she said something like “Did you steal this hay to feed the horses I don’t own, or were you just planning a hayride?”
Life with Father

An 88-year-old German man has agreed to pay a $2610 fine for hitting his 65-year-old son with a broom.
The men, who share a house in Maisach, appeared in court before Judge Michaela Welnhofer, who twice had to shout at the pair to stop them from quarrelling in the courtroom, The Local.de reported.
The older man was convicted of criminal assault and ordered to pay the fine in December. He said in his appeal that he had not struck his son, but he had rather pushed him with the broom in self-defense, to keep from being strangled. However, the father eventually decided to drop the appeal and pay the fine.
“I’d be ashamed of coming to court with this nonsense,” Welnhofer told the men.
He may never get that boy raised.
The Third Wheel

An extra wheel can help aging bikers, say the three-wheel motorcyclists at the National East Coast Trike-In in North Carolina.
Grady Howar, 74, said he began riding motorcycles about 50 years ago with his wife, Barbara, but he was forced to switch to the three-wheeled design due to leg aches and other health problems, The New York Times reported.
“I told my wife it was either trike it or park it,” Howard said. “And she said, ‘Trike it.’”
Industry experts told the Times that sales of three-wheeled bikes have bolstered the slowing motorcycle business and opened the roads back up to tens of thousands of riders who thought their biker days were behind them.
Sounds like the ideal solution for older guys who want to take their hernias for a ride.

Two New York Yankees fans were video-taped having sex in a stadium bathroom during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The video, which appeared on sports blog Deadspin, shows a man having sex with a woman in a bathroom, which was identified by a tipster as being under the left field bleachers, the New York Daily News reported.
“People were jockeying for position outside the stall to take pics, either over or under, and even standing up on the toilet bowl on the neighboring stall,” the tipster told Deadspin.
The New York Post reported that the couple received a standing ovation from their fellow fans when they left the restroom.
In other news, the Yankees beat the Rays 5-3.
