Burning Love and Chicken Parts

This edition of Stolen from the Headlines concerns a guy who opened the wrong door, a man who didn’t know where he was, a serial chicken smuggler, and a guy with a novel welcome home present for his girlfriend.

The Russian Express

Originally reported by United Press International

Russian train passengers finished the beer of a man who fell off while trying to get fresh air during a trip from Moscow to the town of Petushki.

The train took a hard turn while the unnamed man had a car door open, and he tumbled off.
He left some luggage, including some tools, and a beer behind. The man’s belongings just sat there for a while before a male passenger reportedly picked them up and finished the beer, the Moskovsky Komsomolets reported.

The Moscow Times reported that the event occurred on the “alcoholic train.”

You don’t say.

Nodding Off

Originally reported by WLTX.com

In West Columbia, South Carolina, a deputy coroner for Lexington County was arrested and charged with DUI and having an open container in the vehicle.

The responding officer arrived at the location and found Lexington County Deputy Coroner Barry Wright unconscious behind the wheel of a Ford Explorer, stopped in the middle of the street. The officer knocked on the window and was able to wake Wright, who shut off the vehicle, and, at the request of the officer, unlocked and exited the vehicle.

When asked by officers about the open beer in the vehicle, Wright is quoted as responding “I thought I was at the house.”

A natural mistake.

Unlawful Chickens at the Border

Originally reported by United Press International

A Swedish man tried to cross the Norwegian border with about 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds) of raw, frozen chicken. This is the ninth time the chicken smuggler has tried to take the poultry across the border in his Volvo. The Norwegian customs officers were less than shocked.

“He can count on getting a fine, and we’ve confiscated the goods,” Gro Lene Gundelsby, the Norwegian head of customs, told Dagens Nyheter newspaper.

It is only legal to transport 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of poultry across the border. The unnamed smuggler tried to transport 50 times that amount.

After 9 times, maybe it’s time to try something different. An Audi, maybe.

He’s Just a Hunk of Burning Love

Originally reported by Mirror.co.uk

Amanj Yassen, 29, had not seen girlfriend Jana Stankeviciute, 25, for a month while she was on holiday in Latvia. Eager to show that his love was still burning, he arranged dozens of tea lights on his bedroom floor in the shape of a heart with an arrow through it and spelled out her name.
But when he closed the door to hide the surprise, the carpet caught fire and the flames tore through the entire room.

Amanj tried to tackle the blaze himself but was beaten back by flames and smoke and had to alert the fire department.

They used breathing apparatus to put out the blaze but not before 70 percent of the room was destroyed, including the carpet and bed.

Maybe the fire brigade should have just used buckets.
