One Day Remains

A recent wave has hit the rock n’ roll

world. It turns out most band members get along, but there often seems to be an

egotistical lead singer that eventually gets left behind. Yes, I’m talking about bands

that break up and form a new band with the only different element being a new front

person. For example, Rage Against the Machine broke up, hired Chris Cornell and formed

the supergroup Audioslave. The band Alter Bridge recently joined this trend.

Alter

Bridge has the original members of Creed minus one Scott Stapp. The band replaced Stapp

with Myles Kennedy and their new CD, One Day Remains, could very well rival

Creed’s best album, My Own Prison.

One Day Remains contains

a fine, fine mix of songs. The first single released from the disc was “Open Your Eyes.”

Although this was a logical choice for the debut release, the rest of the songs shape

the album into what it is – AWESOME!

The opening song, “Find the Real,”

has heavy guitar riffs, hard drumming, and a bass line that drives from beginning to end.

Kennedy’s vocals remind one of Chris Cornell’s in “Superunknown”. “Burn it Down,” moves

from a slow and soft to a slow and heavy sound. Guitarist Mark Tremonti ends the track

with a dynamic solo and adds more surprising solos throughout the disc.

Between the heavy guitar shredding, loud drums, and Kennedy’s vocals,

this album rocks. Trust me, in the past week I bought four CD’s and none compare

to this. I was completely blown away with what this band has done without Scott Stapp.

Bringing in Myles Kennedy was a very wise move, as would be purchasing this album.
