E.L.O.’s Greatest Hits

If you grew up in the seventies,

like I did, you’ll love this CD! Electric Light Orchestra was a band with distinctive

style. They were using synthesizers before everyone else, and complemented tunes with

everything from operatic sopranos to crying violins.

I have seen E.L.O. in

concert–twice, actually–and the first time could be counted as the most fun I’ve ever

had watching a band. Every song is a memory and every note brilliant.

From

“Evil Woman,” which younger listeners might recognize from Austin Powers, “Livin’

Thing,” “Can’t Get it out of My Head” and “Showdown,” you’ll be singing, humming,

tapping your fingers or maybe even crying as the memories

come
back.

The rest of the songs include “Turn to Stone,” “Rockaria,”

“Telephone Line,” “Strange
Music,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Sweet Talkin’ Woman” and “Ma-Ma-Ma

Belle.”

Care to reminisce? One song might remind you of dancing with your

first
crush at a junior high soirée. Another brings back your sister’s eight-track

tape player blaring against the back-drop of your mom yelling, “Turn that thing

down!”

You can’t lose with any of E.L.O.’s music, but this disc is a

must-have for any fan. If you grew up in the seventies; no matter what the memories are,

E.L.O.’s Greatest Hits will move you.
