Somewhere in the City

Read Time:1 Minute, 1 Second

Somewhere in the City is the kind of album that would perfectly complement either a Sunday drive, a dinner party among close friends or a peaceful stroll through the park or along the shore.

The disc opens with “When the Night Turns Cold,” an upbeat and catchy track with a delightful mix of guitar and bongos. The second track bears the clever title of “Love and Misery.” This is a duet with Ane Brun and, though the vocals are wonderful, this tune is as melancholy as the title suggests. “God’s Highway” has a bit of a Simon and Garfunkel feel to it. “For Elisabeth Wherever You Are” is another ballad with great vocal harmonies and some lovely woodwind work laced throughout. “The Features of a Human Face” is sweet and haunting with thoughtful lyrics. Things pick up again with the title track, a catchy ditty with some excellent guitar work. “What a Day” is a cheerful, danceable tune.

Tobias Fröhberg demonstrates a remarkable range of talent in singing, songwriting and musicianship. The songs on this album have a refreshing and extraordinary diversity of sound. The vocals here are outstanding, the lyrics are thought-provoking and the musicianship is nothing short of fine.
