Jam-packed with talent, Welcome to My World is an amazing debut album by this gifted singer and songwriter. The genre is country with a good bit of rock and roll laced in.
A native of Basin, Wyoming, Delana Stevens has a powerful style, reminiscent of Lucinda Williams. This, combined with the youthful wisdom of Fiona Apple and the grit of Ani DiFranco, makes it a moving piece of work. The vocals here are magnificent and the lyrics compelling. And she’s backed by a strong, colorful band that includes fiddle, banjo, lap steel, sax and harp.
The catchy title track makes for a fabulous hook. “Smarter Everyday” is upbeat and rich with wise lyrics. “Don’t Sweat the Little Things” is energetic with some fine piano stylings. “Whiskey Road” is a rollicking, danceable track with some great jams. “Say Hello to Heaven” is sweet and soulful. “The Bed You Made” is gritty with more brilliant lyrics. “Girls Gone Wild” rocks nicely and has a perfect beat for dancing.
This is music to fit many moods and would nicely complement your next road trip, workout or dinner party. If you’re a country music fan, Welcome to My World will surely add a fresh voice to your collection.
