No Escape

Isabelle Carson sends a mysterious message to Grant Kent, warning him to be careful. She doesn’t expect him to show up at her door, demanding to know what she meant by her message. In fact, she prefers that he get out of town before a vicious killer plans and carries out Grant’s death.

The people with whom Isabelle shared a foster home as a child are dying one by one, and the police are ruling the deaths suicides. But isn’t that too much of a coincidence? Is Isabelle the only one who believes that the rest of her foster family is in danger? Only Grant can help her now. He’s the only man she’s ever trusted.

Retired Delta Force soldier Grant Kent is on his way to a new job—and, hopefully, a brand new beginning. But when he receives a letter from Isabelle, the woman he saved from getting raped by their foster father so many years ago, he feels compelled to run to her rescue again. As his future plans begin to derail, he finds himself wanting
more than just to protect Isabelle. But can a man who’s afraid he’ll turn out like his father—the love ‘em and leave ‘em type—dare to hope for a lifetime of love with Isabelle?

Shannon K. Butcher’s No Escape is a suspenseful but pleasant read, with a carefully thought-out story, believable characters, and a hero that you’ll wish you could meet—and keep. Though Grant is all tough male, there’s no doubt that he’d protect Isabelle with his last breath. It’s no wonder that women love romance novels; you don’t often find men like Grant in real life. And Isabelle is worthy of that type of devotion—because she has the right combination of grit and feminine softness.

This is only Ms. Butcher’s third novel, but she’s already at the top of the game. The gut-wrenching suspense in No Escape has such an emotional impact that it’ll leave you breathless and panting for more. And, after reading it, you’ll want to go back and pick up the other novels that Ms. Butcher has written. I know I do. And I can’t wait to see what else she brings us in the future.
