CIFF09 Report: Day 4

Filed under: Film Festivals — kdk @ 10:02 am

In real marathons (of the running variety), participants tend to save up their strength for that last sprint to the finish line. But after three days of my four-day movie marathon, I barely had enough strength left to trip over the finish line — so I took it easy on my last day. (more…)

CIFF09 Report: Day 3

Filed under: Film Festivals — kdk @ 11:46 pm

I woke up this morning feeling a bit fuzzy. My eyes were bloodshot, my knees were spasming, and I was a bit worse for the wear. But I’m not the only one, really. Everyone at the festival — whether it’s the audience, the staff, or the volunteers — seems a bit worn out. This late in the week, people get a bit slap-happy. CIFF09 Report: Day 1

Filed under: Film Festivals — kdk @ 11:48 pm

It’s great to be back at CIFF!

Originally, I had planned to leave first thing this morning, in order to make the 11 a.m. screening — but I decided to spend a bit more time in the office instead, mostly since I was out at a screening until 10 last night, and I still had to finish packing and writing reviews and things.

Instead, I rushed out the door at 10:30 and headed north, for the boring, two-hour drive to Cleveland, in what appeared to be a flood. (more…)
