Judi writes a bi-weekly humor column for the Lake County, Illinois, Journals,
“Off the Deep End,” where she’s covered everything from trying to get a
compliment from her husband to being attacked by a goose. She is also a very
part-time writing tutor at the College of Lake County, where she claims that
helping students figure out online citations will one day cause her to run screaming
from the Writing Center. Judi won first prize in the February/March
HumorPress’ online contest, as well as placing as a finalist and semi-finalist several
times. In addition, she’s been published on the The Short Humor Site.
She is a member of Writers With Humor Internet Discussion group.
Judi received a BA in English from Northeastern Illinois University and
worked in the communications field for several years. Her last job was for a
major park district’s marketing and communications department. She left after several
years because there were only so many ways she could describe dance programs,
soccer, and after-school activities.
Judi and her husband, Stan, live in Lake Villa, Illinois, and between them
have six kids and eighteen grandchildren, all great column fodder. None claim
to ever read her column, thank goodness.
