Dear Christine,

About a year ago, my boyfriend broke up with me. It was difficult to deal with, but I have since moved on.

I’m finding it difficult to meet new people and prospective dates. Most of the guys I meet are on a different level than I am, and I can’t connect with them. I’m a very mature 19. None of the guys I’ve met are mature enough to have any kind of intellectual conversation.

I’m having fun and I’m content with my life, but I’d like to find someone to share my passion for life with—even on a platonic level.

What sort of places should my girls and I be going to to meet interesting, kind, and intellectually stimulating guys to hang out with? -- LORISSA – LONDON, ONTARIO

Dear Lorissa,

If I had the exact answer to your question, I’d be there right now, hanging out with all the interesting, kind, and intellectually stimulating guys.

If it’s intellect you’re searching for, go to the places you find intellectually stimulating. Just like the rest of us, you’ll have to sort through your share of frogs before you find your Prince Charming.

Dear Christine,

I wrote to you in your column entitled “Torn Between Two Losers.” Briefly, I was in love with one man who had a history of treating me badly, and I was engaged to another man who is dating someone else.

Anyway, I just wanted to say your comments about me being a needy, dependant, drama queen knocked me off my feet. I cursed you for a couple of weeks, but I couldn’t bring myself to throw out the paper. Now, I would like to thank you for your tough love. It really made me take a harder look at myself.

As per your suggestions, I am now totally single, focusing on building my personal strengths. And although I get lonely sometimes, I am on the road to self-betterment.

I might even go back to school and take a class or two. Thank you. -- GETTING IT TOGETHER – PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA

Dear Getting It Together,

I’m so glad I could help. But the real credit goes to you for taking control of your life. Congratulations!
