This entire disc flows beautifully with a gentle, melodic feel, impressive musicianship and delightfully heartfelt vocals. It is laid-back fare - more sway than dance music, yet it’s not sleepy. It’s a bit like a fusion of Edie Brickell with Lucinda Williams.

The mix is smooth with exquisite harmonies. Aside from the vocals, the strings and keys really stand out here.

The disc opens with the catchy “Don’t Mean You Lost Your Love.” There’s some really fine guitar work on this one. The title track is next and features some sweet, bluesy undertones. “Another Life” has absolutely gorgeous vocals. “Mi La Vie” is a satisfying listen with lovely lyrics and a catchy beat. “Every Broken Curve,” with its crooning vocals and magnificent slide guitar stylings is a perfect finale and easily my favorite track on this disc.

Annabella is the kind of music that works with either a hot cup of tea and good book on a rainy day or cocktails with friends at sunset by a lake. Though this is Libby Johnson’s solo debut, I’m certain we can look forward to a lot more great work from her in the future.
