He's been rated by Rolling Stone Magazine as the fourth greatest guitarist of all time. With a career that has spanned over 40 years, Eric Clapton, nicknamed "Slowhand," has received 18 Grammys and is the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Complete Clapton, a 2-disc set of his greatest work, encompasses this British legend's career between 1968 and 2006. Though he started out as a blues guitarist, his first success came with Cream, a precursor to hard rock. Their songs are among my favorites - "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," "Badge" and "Crossroads," which are all included on the CD. Of course there's "Bell Bottom Blues" with Derek and the Dominos, and both versions of "Layla." You'll find "Let it Rain" and "Wonderful Tonight" through hits on his 1989 Journeyman album "She's Waiting" and "Bad Love" – there are 36 songs in all. What isn't included?

Clapton never abandons his love for the blues as the collection includes his later work, "Riding with the King" (Clapton & B.B. King) and the Robert Johnson Classics “Sweet Home Chicago," and "If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day." The set concludes with a 2005 reunion with J.J. Cale (who wrote Clapton's hits “Cocaine" and "After Midnight") with the folksy "Ride the River."

So many greatest hits compilations feature B-sides of records that you've never heard before. It isn't the case here, so you definitely won't be disappointed. Even the re-mastering from the original vinyl is well done.

Complete Clapton is a must for any classic rock fan. You just can't get any better than this.
