If you haven’t picked up a Forensic Handwriting Mystery by Sheila Lowe, I highly recommend that you do. Not only are the details about forensic handwriting fascinating, but Ms. Lowe also weaves a suspenseful mystery into the plot. And her third mystery, Dead Write, is no different.

After watching handwriting expert Claudia Rose’s appearance on a popular early morning talk show, Grusha Olinetsky, the founder of an influential dating service, invites her to New York to analyze handwriting samples. Grusha’s clients are mysteriously dying, but their deaths also appear to be from natural causes.

When Claudia discovers that Grusha included the files of clients who have died, she begins to wonder exactly what Grusha needs her for—and why she hasn’t taken her suspicions to the police. But it turns out that Grusha has a few shocking secrets of her own—and saving her ambiguous reputation may not be possible.

When Grusha continues to be less than straightforward with her, Claudia decides to head back to Los Angeles—that is, until she discovers that her boyfriend, LAPD Detective Joel Jovanic, may have been unfaithful to her with his beautiful partner. So, instead, she remains in New York, where she becomes entangled with the rich and single, who just might be desperate enough to commit murder.

Claudia Rose is the kind of endearing character that you can’t wait to spend time with. She’s spirited and intelligent, yet she has a vulnerable side that draws you into her world and makes you want to stay for a spell.

With a cast of eccentric characters (who will sometimes make you laugh out loud), lots of handwriting detail, and a ticking time bomb of a plot, Dead Write will drag you into the shady side of a dating service where the rich, and not always mentally stable, go to find the perfect mate.

Intelligent and suspenseful, with an in-depth plot, Dead Write is a mystery thriller like no other. I simply could not put this novel down, and I can’t wait to read the next Claudia Rose Forensic Handwriting Mystery.
