If thereís room for some southern humor in your life, then make way for Jon Reep in your comedy collection. Reep, a past winner of the show Last Comic Standing and an actor in this yearís Larry the Cable Guy Christmas Special, has an exceptionally witty tongue and a finesse for story telling that will leave you enjoying every second of his new CD, Metro Jethro.

The CD comes with a bonus DVD, essentially repeating the show on both discs. Itís a great two-for-one deal, and you can enjoy Reepís southern charm in the car on the way to work or on TV with your feet up on the couch.

Jon Reep is essentially a Southerner at heart. You might initially group him in with the Blue Collar Comedy men (Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy), but Reep appreciates the humor on both sides of the rural/urban fence, setting his comedy apart from the "You Might Be a Redneck" jokes. There is a small amount of swearing involved in his show, but the jokes are pretty clean. The only downside is that he likes to end quite a few of his jokes with rhyming word pairs (for example, "Don't be a rude dude."), and the effect gets kitschy after a while. Overall, though, Reep is personable and friendly, engaging his audience with his relaxed, conversational speaking style. Reep's comedy focuses heavily on personal experience, and he will especially delight you with his stories, from going to the county fair to being married and proclaiming his love of all things NASCAR; this show has something in it for all adults, young and old, to appreciate.

The CD is excellent to listen to, but Reep is even more entertaining to watch on DVD. The only downside to the entire thing was the terrible menu set up and animation. Itís hard to read the menu options because the majority of them are jumping around while parts of the background are moving, all simultaneously and in different directions. However, the extras on the DVD are excellent. Theyíre extensive and funny, including extra comedy bits, family commentary, and bonus footage.

Metro Jethro is enthralling, through and through. For all comedy enthusiasts out there, this CD/DVD combo is a must for your collection.
