Bail bondsman Clark Shealy ends up way over his head when he comes in contact with a Chinese Mafioso with ties to the Manchurian Triad. They kidnap his wife and give him forty-eight hours to find a mathematician named Kumari, who discovered an algorithm that rapidly factors numbers into prime components. In short, this algorithm can break Internet encryption, and it’s the key to every lock.

If Shealy fails to find Kumari within the allotted time, they’ll torture his wife, and they’ll kill her if he totally fails to get them what they want.

Four years later, law student Jamie Brock gets dragged into a case involving a couple in the witness protection program who may have defrauded the government by leaving out the fact that they now possess the algorithm and wish to sell it to the highest bidder. Brock’s life becomes endangered as foes from all sides attempt to get at the valuable code. No one can be trusted—not even her law professor or her classmates who have been assigned to help with the case.

False Witness is an adrenaline rush that’ll leave you gasping as you’re yanked from one thrill to the next. It’s almost like getting two thrillers in one as you follow both Clark Shealy’s desperate attempt to save his wife and Jamie Brock’s fight to stay alive while she’s trapped in a case that she shouldn’t, as a law student, be involved in.

Jamie is one tough young lady who uses her brains and wit throughout the entire ordeal. Clark is a bit rough around the edges, and he’s not altogether honest, but you’ll admire his grit as he does whatever he has to do to save his wife’s life.

Even if you don’t particularly like math, you’ll still get caught up in the ramifications that could result if this algorithm is dropped into the wrong hands. Not even our government could be trusted with it. Mr. Singer also brings courtroom drama into this action-packed novel, which will hold you spellbound from one harrowing incident to another.

With its bold, tenacious characters and an addictive plot, False Witness will keep you hooked way into the late hours of the night. It simply fascinates from the first page to the last. If you love legal thrillers, like I do, you need to get your hands on a copy of False Witness. It’s one of the best I’ve read in a long while.
