For years, Thursday has quietly the rules, waiting for her time with Seth, never being able to enjoy a normal married life. She lives for her one night each week with Seth, when she cooks a big, fancy dinner and makes sure she looks her best. Outside of her time with Seth, she’s distant and reserved. She doesn’t build friendships because she can’t do dinners as a couple. She can’t even tell anyone the truth. But then her discovery of a receipt from a doctor’s office with Seth’s pregnant wife’s name on it sends her on a quest to figure out more about the women who share her husband. But as she does so, she realizes that she might be in danger—and Seth’s young wife may be, too.
What starts out as an intriguing story about an unusual way of life then turns into something much darker. Thursday begins to question her relationship with her husband. She wonders how well she really knows him. The more she digs for information, the more her story twists and turns until, like Thursday, readers will start to question everything. And though the story builds gradually, giving readers plenty of time to settle into Thursday’s story, it eventually takes a high-speed roller-coaster drop that throws readers completely off-balance. The tension builds to breathtaking levels until it all comes to an unexpected conclusion.
The Wives isn’t a casual, brainless read. It’s the kind of story that will pull you in, take you on a wild ride, and leave you wondering what just happened.
