As of now, the “Breakout Artist” section at Target has not steered me wrong. They have given me such great bands as Queens of the Stone Age, Audiovent, and The Exies at a cheap price. I continued my shopping here by purchasing the self-titled album by Theory of a Deadman.
Theory of a Deadman is yet another post-grunge quartet out of the Vancouver area. They are the splitting image of a band out of the same city. That’s right, Nickelback. Maybe it’s because producer Chad Kroger did both albums.
This CD has its ups with hard driving songs and meaningful lyrics. The slow songs do mix things up a bit. The downs are the lack of musical development in the songs and the fact that the CD could be Nickelback’s third major release.
A mediocre CD it is, which could have been better if not for the fact that I heard most of these songs on Nickelback’s Silver Side Up.
